Hiking trip spain, nature on a Stroll arround Refugio MarnesA beautiful, short route of just over three kilometres starting from the main house of Refugio Marnes and continues, for the most part, on our property. This walk is easy and only takes about an hour.

The path from the parking of Refugio Marnes  is descended towards the donkey´s pasture. At the bottom keep the pool on the right and the donkey meadow on the left following the fence to your left, and at the fork, where you turn right for La Ruina, keep left. This is primarily a stone path that turns into a dirt road, and it is very clear which route needs to be followed. Different plants which are characteristic for this region are passed on this hike such as rosemary, thyme, pine trees, orchids (beautifully in bloom in the spring), palmetto bushes and small oak trees.

Hiking trip spain, valerian flower during stroll arround Refugio MarnesAt one point on the top left a cavity in the rocks, a kind of a cave, is passed. Here you can take a look in and clearly there has been human activity here, with two separate areas distinguishable as in the past shepherds have kept their herd of sheep in this cave.

Below the path is followed and the sand is turned into stone again. A small gap appears with rocks on either side, see the photo that was taken backwards after passing the gorge. The extent of the property of Refugio Marnes is marked by this gap. Continue on the trail which is still very accessible and eventually you will end up at the hairpin bend on the road leading through Partida Marnes.
