The Agost Pottery Museum is located in the old factory Torregrosa, a building that has been declared a local landmark. This pottery workshop dates from the end of the 19th century and still functioned until 1975 as such. The original structures of the plant are still there, the workshop with his potter’s wheel, the drying room, ponds and Arab ovens, etc. This is unique because there are no remaining pottery workshops of that era that are not adapted to modern requirements.
The museum began in 1981 with the bequeathed by Ilse Schütz of her collection of local pottery. Since 2002, the museum is part of the municipality Agost and has a wide range of activities. In addition to the permanent exhibition of pottery from Agost, there are also at least three seasonal exhibitions each year. Furthermore, there are numerous educational activities such as: tours, educational packages, there are lessons that you can take on the potter’s wheel , and also specific workshops on ceramics throughout the year. This is a nice daytrip from Refugio Marnes, your rural Bed and Breakfast.
