Mountains of cushions

Brigitte, a German women's magazine about Refugio Marnes

My girlfriend and I wandered somewhat aimlessly through the hinterland of the Costa Blanca, green hills against a blue horizon, in the air we already smelled the spring, the first flowering almond trees. It was the beginning of January, we drove towards Benissa into the Sierra de Bernia.

The sign ” Pinos Restaurante” lured us to a tiny way, we continued over a bridge with blue railings. And then, we suddenly saw a white farmhouse in the middle of the wilderness, home to wild boar, ermines, hawks and buzzards circling in the sky. Here, in Refugio Marnes, one has two options, either rent a stone house called ‘La Ruina’ at the end of a steep donkey path, or a bedouintent which is equipped with mountains of cushions, canopy beds, wicker furniture and a small kitchenette. The guests meet in the large garden, among carob and olive trees or by the pool. Too bad that we already booked an accommodation in the Costa Blanca, we would have been happy to stay a week!
